10. Zinc

Zinc helps the immune system by fighting off bacteria and viruses. It also ensures that you smell and taste things properly. Zinc deficiency is characterized by loss of appetite and impaired immune function. In more severe cases, zinc deficiency causes hair loss, diarrhea, and eye and skin lesions. Women need 8 micrograms of zinc per day.

Good sources of zinc: shellfish, whole grains, dark chocolates.
