5. Saturated Fats Are Always Bad For You
Back in the 1960s, doctors began to associate low-fat diets with superior nutrition and better health. But a plot twist took place in the 1990s and 2000s, when the scientists recognized that polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats, the so-called "healthy fats", are good for heart health.
Even though people hold a firm belief that saturated fats will take a toll on their health, new research suggests that some certain saturated fats like stearic acid appears to lower levels of unhealthy LDL cholesterol as well as increase healthy HDL cholesterol, and decrease overall plasma cholesterol. Try coconut oil and cocoa butter for dietary sources of stearic fats.
