2. Raw Almonds and Cashews

It may surprise you that almonds and cashews should not be categorized as nuts, but rather seeds. These two varieties can contain cyanide when they're raw, giving them potential health hazards, in more severe cases, death. Cashews are never sold with shells, as they're covered with anacardic acid, a chemical compound also found in ivy leaves that can cause allergic skin rashes on contact. Luckily, these two alarming seeds are usually steamed or cooked before being sold. Thus, you'll be safe as long as you stick to the merchandised ones and stay away from their plants.
