Caffeine Intake Recommendation
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recommends the daily intake that caffeine intake for a healthy adult should be no more than 400 milligrams. How much is that?
Caffeine in 1 cup (250 mL) of
- coffee: 80-100 mg
- decaf coffee: 2-15 mg
- green or black tea: 30-50 mg
- energy drinks: 40-250 mg
- caffeinated soft drink: 20-27 mg
In other words, a healthy adult should drink no more than:
- 4-5 cups of coffee
- 27-200 cups of decaf coffee (lol)
- 13-8 cups of green or black tea
- 1-10 cups of energy drinks
- 14-20 cups of caffeinated soft drink
