A new study conducted by U.S. biotech company Amgen's subsidiary in Iceland found long-lasting coronavirus antibodies based on tests of 30,576 people in Iceland. The researchers performed tests on both infected with coronavirus and not infected since the beginning of COVID-19 breakout in February, providing a prolonged period of time for comparison. The antibodies in a subgroup of participants tested positive for coronavirus replicated and stayed effective for two months and even reached its climax and stayed effective for up to four months. Researchers also commented that previous studies, which concluded that antibodies died off quickly after infection, provided limited knowledge on coronavirus. This is because the studies looked at only approximately 28 days after infection, but the second wave of antibody production usually comes after up to two months into the infection.
