The most obvious yet hardest solution to stress eating is confronting the stressor(s), or events and environments that people consider threatening or challenging. Remember that avoidance of stressors and resorting to food cannot solve the problem, so what we suggest you do is to use comfort food as a reward for confronting the stressor. But you do not have to solve the entire issue. According to theories of motivation, setting subgoals and deadlines for different stages of a task or goal yields better task-related outcomes than having only a big goal.
