E.A. Sween Company Announces Product Recall Due to Choking Hazard

Raleigh, N.C., Jan. 14, 2026 — E.A. Sween Company has recalled Deli Express® BBQ Pulled Pork sandwiches due to the potential presence of plastic foreign particles that could pose a choking hazard; consumers should not eat the product and should stop using it immediately. The company says any product from the affected lot codes should be considered potentially contaminated; to date, there have been no reports of injuries or illnesses linked to ingestion of plastic particles.

The recall applies to Deli Express® BBQ Pulled Pork sandwich (UPC 0-41433-13087-2) with the following consumer lot code(s): 1915013, 1915020, 1915024, 1915051, 1915065, 1915071, 1915093, 1915104, 1915114, 1915135, 1915140, 1915148, 1915169, 1915218, 1915226, 1915232, 1915254, 1915288 and 1915301. The product has been sold since Jan. 16, 2025, in the Continental United States, Hawaii and Guam through convenience stores and grocery and mass retail outlets, and online at select U.S. retailers; lot code information is printed on the ingredient label next to the barcode on individual packages.

Consumers who have purchased the affected product should not consume it and may return it to the store of purchase for a refund, or dispose of it safely if return is not possible. Retailers have been instructed to remove affected products from shelves and inventory immediately; consumers should check package lot codes before use.
