Recall Details
Raleigh, N.C., Jan. 14, 2026 — August Egg Company of Hilmar, Calif., has recalled approximately 1,700,000 dozen brown cage-free and brown certified organic shell eggs because they may be contaminated with Salmonella Enteritidis, which can cause fever, diarrhea, vomiting and more severe illness in vulnerable people. Consumers who have the affected eggs should stop using them immediately and discard or return them for a refund; do not eat the eggs.
The recalled products bear plant code(s) P-6562 or CA5330 with Julian dates between 32 and 126 printed on the carton or package. Brands and item descriptions include Clover Organic Large Brown 12 eggs (UPC 070852010427), Nulaid and Sunnyside cage-free lines, O Organics and Marketside varieties, First Street loose cases and multiple other retail labels; some bulk loose cartons have no UPC. The eggs have been sold since Feb. 3, 2025, online and at select U.S. retailers — including Save Mart, FoodMaxx, Lucky, Smart & Final, Safeway, Raley’s, Food 4 Less, Ralphs and Walmart locations — in Arizona, California, Illinois, Indiana, Nebraska, New Mexico, Nevada, Washington and Wyoming, with sell-by dates spanning March 4, 2025, to June 19, 2025.
Consumers should return affected cartons to the place of purchase for a full refund or dispose of them following local guidance; do not give recalled eggs to others. Customers seeking a replacement or refund or with questions may contact August Egg Company at 1-800-710-2554, Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m. PT, or email [email protected]. If you are unsure whether your eggs are included, check the plant code and Julian date on the carton or consult your retailer for verification.
