Raleigh, N.C., Jan. 14, 2026 — Revival Animal Health of Orange City, Iowa, has recalled Breeder’s Edge® Foster Care® Canine and Shelter’s Choice® Canine milk replacers because laboratory testing found variable levels of vitamin D in some lots that may be either deficient or elevated, posing a risk of vitamin D toxicity and renal dysfunction in dogs; consumers should stop feeding the products immediately and consult a veterinarian if their dog shows vomiting, loss of appetite, increased thirst or urination, excessive drooling, or unexplained weight loss.
The recall covers multiple package sizes and lot codes for Shelter’s Choice Canine Milk Replacer (UPC 817160011087, 1 lb.; UPC 817160011070, 3.5 lb.; UPC 817160011056, 8 lb.) and Breeder’s Edge Foster Care Canine Milk Replacer (UPC 817160010189, 12 oz.; UPC 817160011025, 18 lb.; UPC 817160010172, 20 lb.; UPC 817160010073, 4.5 lb.), with best‑by ranges listed by lot code. Affected products have been sold online and at select U.S. retailers and have been sold since Sept. 15, 2025; consumers should check the lot code/UPC on packaging to determine if their product is included in the recall.
Consumers should discontinue use and either dispose of the product safely or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund, or contact Revival Animal Health to request a refund or replacement; consumers reporting illness in pets should contact their veterinarian.
