Recall Details
Raleigh, N.C., Jan. 14, 2026 — Avole Inc. has recalled 7-ounce pouches of Bacalaitos Criollos Codfish Fry Mix because the product’s label may fail to declare the common name “Fish (Pollock),” creating a risk of serious or potentially life‑threatening allergic reactions for consumers with fish allergies; consumers should stop using the product immediately and not eat it. The voluntary market withdrawal was initiated after an FDA inspection on Sept. 5, 2024, prompted labeling corrections; no allergic reactions have been reported to date.
The recalled item is Bacalaitos Criollos Codfish Fry Mix, item number 310925, lot code(s) printed as “use before: 06/2025” on the upper center-right of the back of the pouch. The 7‑ounce pouches have been sold in Puerto Rico, online and at select U.S. retailers and have been sold since Sept. 15, 2025; some expired packages with the same labeling issue may still be in circulation.
Consumers who purchased the product are urged to stop using it and return it to the place of purchase for disposal, refund or replacement, or dispose of it safely if return is not possible. For questions or to request a refund or replacement, contact Liliana Rodriguez at Liana’s Food by phone at (787) 225‑7282, Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. EST, or consult the company’s recall notice online for further instructions. If you have a severe allergy and experience symptoms, seek immediate medical attention.
