Raleigh, N.C., Jan. 14, 2026 — North Fish USA Inc. of Hallandale, Fla., has recalled imported 9-ounce packages of "Cold Smoked Capelin" because the fish have been found uneviscerated and over 5 inches in length, raising the risk of contamination with Clostridium botulinum, a bacterium that can cause life‑threatening botulism. Consumers are urged to stop using the product immediately and not to eat it even if it appears or smells normal; anyone experiencing symptoms such as double vision, difficulty speaking or swallowing, muscle weakness, or breathing problems should seek immediate medical attention.
