Raleigh, N.C., Feb. 24, 2026 — Saputo Cheese USA Inc. has voluntarily recalled select Great Value cottage cheese products because liquid dairy ingredients used in those items may not have been fully pasteurized, creating a potential risk of foodborne illness for consumers, particularly young children, older adults and immunocompromised individuals. Consumers who purchased the affected products should not eat them and should stop using them immediately.
The recall covers Great Value Fat Free Small Curd Cottage Cheese – 0% Milkfat (lot code(s) tied to UPC 078742373393, Best If Used By Apr. 01-26 and Apr. 03-26); Great Value Lowfat Small Curd Cottage Cheese – 2% Milkfat (lot code(s) tied to UPC 078742116730, Best If Used By Apr. 01-26, Apr. 02-26 and Apr. 03-26); and Great Value Small Curd Cottage Cheese – 4% milkfat minimum in 16 oz. (UPC 078742372358, Best If Used By Apr. 02-26), 24 oz. (UPC 078742372365, Best If Used By Apr. 02-26 and Apr. 03-26) and 3 lb. containers (UPC 078742147970, Best If Used By Apr. 01-26 and Apr. 02-26). The products, sold in white plastic tubs with white lids showing “Best By” dates on the lid side, have been sold online and at select U.S. retailers, including Walmart stores and distribution centers in multiple states, and have been sold since Feb. 17, 2026.
Customers should dispose of the products or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund and are advised to check container lids for the listed Best If Used By dates and UPCs before consuming.
