Raleigh, N.C., Jan. 14, 2026 — Wegmans Food Markets has recalled all packages of Locatelli Grated Pecorino Romano Cheese sold with Wegmans scale labels because the product may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, a bacterium that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, pregnant women and others with weakened immune systems. Consumers who have this product should stop using it immediately and either dispose of it or return it to the place of purchase; do not eat.
The recalled product is labeled Locatelli Grated Pecorino Romano Cheese with UPC prefix 2-77580 (full UPC varies by weight) and all lot code(s) have been included in the recall. The cheese have been sold since Nov. 14, 2025, online and at select U.S. retailers, including Wegmans stores in Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Washington, D.C., through Nov. 24, 2025.
Consumers may dispose of the product or return it to the store for a full refund and are advised to wash and sanitize any surfaces or utensils that came into contact with the cheese.
