Recall Details
Raleigh, N.C., Jan. 14, 2026 — Church Brothers Farms has rescinded its October 18, 2024 recall of green onions after Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) testing errors showed the product did not contain Salmonella; consumers should stop treating the product as recalled and there is no known food safety risk from these lots. The recall was initially issued because a single laboratory sample tested positive for Salmonella, but subsequent whole genome sequencing and investigation determined the positive result was due to cross‑contamination with the laboratory’s positive control strain.
The affected product previously identified as “Green Onions” was associated with 1271 cases and listed with the original lot code(s) reported in the October 18 notice; those lots have been cleared by CFIA testing. The products had been distributed online and at select U.S. and Canadian retailers and have been sold since Sept. 15, 2024 (consumers should check packaging lot code(s) against retailer or company information if they retain the product).
Consumers who retained or disposed of green onions from the listed lots may request a refund or replacement by contacting Church Brothers Farms’ consumer hotline or email; for claims or further questions, email [email protected] or call 877‑590‑0428. Retailers and consumers seeking full lot code details or the original recall notice should consult the CFIA or the company website for archived information and guidance.
