Raleigh, N.C., Jan. 14, 2026 — Viva Raw LLC of Charlotte, N.C., has voluntarily recalled two lots of frozen pet food after routine testing identified contamination with Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes, presenting infection risk to pets and people who handle the products. Consumers should stop using and not feed the affected products immediately; do not sell or donate them. People who have handled the products and develop symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fever, or other signs consistent with Salmonella or Listeria infection should contact their healthcare provider, and pet owners whose animals show lethargy, diarrhea, vomiting, or decreased appetite should contact a veterinarian.
The recall covers Lot 21495 (Viva Ground Beef for Dogs; Viva Beef & Turkey for Puppies) and Lot 21975 (Viva Ground Chicken for Dogs; Viva Chunked Chicken for Dogs; Viva Chicken for Cats; Viva Pure Chicken). The products have been sold since July 2, 2025, as frozen 1 lb. bricks in clear vacuum packaging with the lot code(s) printed on the top of the package, and were distributed online and at select U.S. retailers, including limited shipments to retailers in New York, Illinois, South Carolina, Florida, Kansas, California, and Arizona.
Consumers with products from lot code(s) 21495 or 21975 should request a refund or replacement by contacting Viva Raw at [email protected] and should dispose of remaining product so that children, pets, and wildlife cannot access it; do not feed recalled product to animals. After handling the product, wash and sanitize hands, bowls, cups, storage containers, and any surfaces exposed to the food.
