Recall Details
Raleigh, N.C., Jan. 14, 2026 — UBC Food Distributors is recalling Baraka Ground Black Pepper because certain 7-ounce packages have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, a pathogen that can cause serious illness and, in rare cases, life‑threatening complications in young children, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems. Consumers should stop using the product immediately and avoid eating it; do not serve it to others.
The recall applies to Baraka Ground Black Pepper in 7‑ounce clear plastic containers, marked with expiration date January 2026, and bearing UPC 8 22514 26626 6 (lot code(s) printed on the package). The product has been sold nationwide online and at select U.S. retailers and have been sold since Sept. 15, 2025. Production has been suspended while the company and the FDA investigate the source of contamination after routine state surveillance samples tested positive for Salmonella.
Consumers should return affected 7‑ounce containers to the place of purchase for a full refund or dispose of them securely; keep packaging if you request a replacement or refund. For more information or to report concerns, contact UBC Food Distributors at [email protected] or call 313‑846‑8117, Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m. If you are ill or believe you have been exposed, seek medical attention and inform your provider about possible Salmonella exposure.
