Recall Details
Raleigh, N.C., Jan. 14, 2026 — El Chilar Rodriguez LLC of Apopka, Fla., has recalled El Chilar Ground Cinnamon “Canela Molida” (1.25 oz) because the product may contain elevated levels of lead that pose health risks, particularly to young children and pregnant women. Consumers are advised to stop using the product immediately and not to eat it; parents and caregivers of toddlers or other children who may have been exposed should contact a health care provider promptly. No illnesses have been reported to date.
The recall covers products bearing lot code(s) D300 EX1024 and F272 EX1026, which are stamped on the front of the packaging. The cinnamon has been distributed by La Raza LLC to brick-and-mortar retail stores within Maryland and have been sold since Sept. 15, 2025 through online channels and at select U.S. retailers; consumers should check package lot codes and purchase dates when determining if their product is affected. The recall follows Maryland Department of Health testing that found elevated lead concentrations and an investigation that points to potentially adulterated raw material from a supplier.
Consumers should dispose of or return affected packages to the place of purchase for a full refund, or follow retailer instructions for returns; if uncertain, save the product packaging and contact the retailer for guidance. For claims, questions, or more information, contact EL CHILAR RODRIGUEZ LLC by email at [email protected] or by phone at 407-880-6007 during regular business hours (Mon–Fri, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. ET). Parents concerned about possible exposure should seek medical evaluation and testing as recommended by health professionals.
