Raleigh, N.C., Jan. 14, 2026 — ALB-USA Enterprises, Inc. of Bronx, N.Y., has recalled ALB Flavor brand Ground Cinnamon because testing has found elevated levels of lead that pose a health risk, particularly to children and pregnant people; consumers should stop using the product immediately and not eat it. Short-term exposure to low lead levels may produce no symptoms, but prolonged or higher exposures can cause learning and developmental problems in children and kidney, blood pressure and neurocognitive effects in adults. To date, no illnesses have been reported.
The recall covers ALB Flavor Ground Cinnamon, lot code(s) LA02, packaged in 100-gram plastic bags with a brown carton showing cinnamon powder and two sticks, UPC 5304000333362, Best Before 30/08/2025. The product has been sold since Dec. 15, 2022, and was distributed to retailers in New York, Connecticut, Michigan and Massachusetts; it has not been sold online. The recall follows analysis by the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station that detected elevated lead levels.
Consumers should dispose of or return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund and may request a replacement if available. The company has stopped importing and distributing the item while the FDA and ALB-USA continue their investigation.
