Atkinson Milling Company Recalls Frozen 1 Lb Bag Frozen Hushpuppies with Onions, 2 Lb 8oz Bag Frozen Hushpuppies With Onions and 2 Lb 8oz Bag Frozen Hushpuppies Without Onions Due to Undeclared Milk

Raleigh, N.C., Jan. 14, 2026 — Atkinson Milling Company is recalling select Hushpuppies products because they contain undeclared milk, which poses a risk of serious or life‑threatening allergic reaction for people with milk allergy or severe milk sensitivity; consumers who have these products should not eat them and should stop using them immediately. The company discovered on Nov. 29, 2024, that milk was omitted from the ingredient and “contains” statements and reported the labeling error to the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. No illnesses have been reported to date.

The recall covers Hushpuppies With Onions (1 lb, lot code(s): all lot codes; UPC 0 72119 20718 2; all sell‑by dates before 7/24/2026), Hushpuppies With Onions (2 lb 8 oz, lot code(s): all lot codes; UPC 0 72119 20305 4; all sell‑by dates before 11/11/2026) and Hushpuppies (2 lb 8 oz, lot code(s): all lot codes; UPC 0 72119 20304 7; all sell‑by dates before 10/16/2026). The products have been sold since Sept. 15, 2025, online and at select U.S. retailers, and were distributed primarily in retail and wholesale stores in GA, MD, NC, NJ, SC, TN, VA and WV; the sell‑by date is printed on the package (location varies by bag size).

Consumers who purchased affected products may return them to the place of purchase for a full refund or dispose of them.
