Country Eggs, LLC Recalls Large Brown Cage Free “Sunshine Yolks” Because of Possible Health Risk

Raleigh, N.C., Jan. 14, 2026 — Country Eggs, LLC. of Lucerne Valley, California, has recalled its Large Brown Cage Free Sunshine Yolks because the eggs may be contaminated with Salmonella, a pathogen that can cause serious illness; consumers should stop using the product immediately and not eat it. The company reports 92 illnesses linked to the eggs, with no deaths, and has suspended production while the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the company continue their investigation.

The recall covers retail cartons and bulk foodservice packs sold online and at select U.S. retailers, primarily distributed in California and Nevada, and have been sold since July 1, 2025. Affected product identification includes: Nagatoshi Produce, lot code(s) sell-by dates 7/1/25 through 9/18/25 (No. CA 7695); Misuho, lot code(s) sell-by dates 7/1/25 through 9/18/25 (No. CA 7695); Nijiya Markets, lot code(s) sell-by dates 7/1/25 through 9/18/25 (No. CA 7695); and Country Eggs Large Brown Sunshine Yolks packed 1/15 dozen bulk for foodservice with sell-by dates 7/1/25–9/18/25.

Consumers who purchased any of the listed cartons or bulk packs should return them to the place of purchase for a full refund or safely dispose of the product; foodservice customers should follow their distributor’s return or recall procedures and discontinue use immediately.
