Raleigh, N.C., Jan. 14, 2026 — Tropicale Foods of Modesto, Calif., has voluntarily recalled 5,224 units of Helados Mexico Mini Cream Variety Pack because testing has revealed that the mango bars in the variety pack may be contaminated with Salmonella, a pathogen that can cause fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain and can lead to severe or fatal infections in young children, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems. Consumers who have the affected product should stop using it immediately and not eat it.
The recall applies to Helados Mexico Mini Cream Variety Pack with the best by date “MO Best By 10/11/2025”; lot code(s) are printed on the bottom of the retail box. The product has been sold online and at select U.S. retailers and was distributed in retail locations in Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, Michigan, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Wisconsin, West Virginia, Washington, D.C., and certain locations in Europe since the product’s sale date. Consumers should check the bottom of the box for the best by date and lot code(s) to confirm whether their package is affected.
Consumers with the affected product should dispose of it or return it to the place of purchase for a refund or replacement; if unsure, consumers should retain proof of purchase and contact Tropicale Foods for instructions. No illnesses have been reported to date; the company has ceased distribution and is investigating the cause.
