Urgent Onion Recall Notification

Raleigh, N.C., Jan. 14, 2026 — HelloFresh has issued a recall of onions supplied to its meal kits after an ingredient supplier notified the company of a voluntary recall due to possible Salmonella contamination. Consumers who received onions in HelloFresh or EveryPlate boxes shipped from May 8 through July 31, 2020, are urged to stop use and discard the onions immediately to avoid illness; do not eat them. The company emphasizes that surfaces and containers that contacted the onions should be sanitized and that thoroughly cooking to 165°F (74°C) will kill Salmonella.

The recalled items include HelloFresh and EveryPlate onions associated with the following production weeks and HelloFresh product codes: week 20 (lot code(s) 2-3-5-6-17), week 21 (2-8-15-19), week 22 (2-5-6-9-20), week 23 (6-8-9-15-B-3-5-20), week 24 (6-8-17-B), week 25 (3-4-10-15-18-17-19-20), week 26 (2-3-8-12), week 27 (5-17-4-15-18-20), week 28 (3-9-10-12-15-17-6), week 29 (3-20-7-21), week 30 (4-19-21) and week 31 (2-3-4-19-7-8-16). These onions have been sold online and at select U.S. retailers and have been sold since May 8, 2020; customers should check the product code on the bottom square of their box shipping label to determine if their order is affected.

Consumers should dispose of impacted onions in sealed trash or return them to the place of purchase for a refund or replacement; if returning to HelloFresh, follow the company’s return instructions.
