Madison, Wis., Jan. 14, 2026 — Babcock Dairy of Madison, Wisconsin, has voluntarily expanded a recall of half‑gallon ice cream containers labeled as Chocolate Peanut Butter and Orange Custard Chocolate Chip because some containers were misfilled and contain undeclared egg, posing a risk of serious or life‑threatening allergic reaction to consumers with egg allergy. Consumers who have an egg allergy or severe sensitivity should not eat these products and should stop using them immediately.
The recall covers Orange Custard Chocolate Chip and Chocolate Peanut Butter half‑gallon containers with lot code(s) 09 1724 (Sept. 17, 2024) and 09 3024 (Sept. 30, 2024). The affected products have been sold online and at select U.S. retailers, and were distributed to local retail establishments and directly to customers in the Madison, Wisconsin, area since Sept. 17, 2024. The first lot was identified Nov. 4, 2024, after a customer reported mislabeling; the second lot was added after discovery on Nov. 18, 2024. No illnesses have been reported to date.
Consumers who purchased affected containers should check the production date on the bottom of the container and either return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund or dispose of it safely; retailers will accept returns.
