Betty Lou’s Inc. Issues Allergy Alert on Undeclared (Sesame) in Paleo Java Nuts About Energy Balls With Cacao, Coffee & Pumpkin Seeds

Raleigh, N.C., Jan. 14, 2026 — Betty Lou’s Inc. has recalled its 1.5 oz (42 g) Betty Lou’s Brand Paleo Java Nuts About Energy Balls with Cacao, Coffee & Pumpkin Seeds because the product contains undeclared sesame, posing a risk of serious or life‑threatening allergic reaction to consumers with sesame allergy or sensitivity; consumers who have purchased the affected product should not eat it and should stop using it immediately. The company says no illnesses have been reported to date and the recall follows an internal review that found an old packaging roll was used that failed to declare sesame.

The recalled items are sold individually in 1.5 oz packages (UPC 0 1607352146 5) and in 12‑count display boxes (UPC 0 1607352146 2) and bear lot code(s) BB 08MAY24 1283. The individual packages are marked with the best‑by date and lot number on the inside of the fin seal on the back of the package or printed on the back of the display box. The product has been sold online and at select U.S. retailers in AL, AK, CA, CO, CT, FL, MI, MO, NH, NY, NC, OH, OK, OR, PA, SD, TN, TX and WA and have been sold since July 10, 2023.

Consumers with sesame allergy or sensitivity are urged to dispose of the product or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund; others may request a refund or replacement.
