Baltimore, Md., Jan. 14, 2026 — Taharka Brothers Ice Cream has recalled its Peanut Butter Cup ice cream because it may be contaminated with Salmonella, a bacterium that can cause fever, diarrhea, vomiting and, in vulnerable people, serious or fatal infections. Consumers are advised to stop using the product immediately and not eat it; anyone who has symptoms after consuming the ice cream should seek medical attention and tell their provider about possible Salmonella exposure.
The recall covers Peanut Butter Cup ice cream sold in 16-ounce paper pint containers (barcode 38455-78827) and 2.5-gallon brown rectangular cardboard containers with a white “Peanut Butter Cup” sticker; lot code(s) include production through May 28, 2022. The company says the product has been sold since Mar. 1, 2022 and distributed online and at select U.S. retailers, scoop shops, restaurants and direct-to-consumer delivery in the Maryland and Washington, D.C., area.
Wholesale customers are asked to remove affected product from circulation, photograph and dispose of it, then email [email protected] with business name, address, product details and photos to request credit. Individual customers should not consume the ice cream and may return it to a Taharka Brothers store for an exchange or refund, or email [email protected] if they cannot visit a store; questions may also be directed to 410-698-2738, Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m. EST. If additional distribution or lot information is needed, consumers should check retailer notices or contact the company for updates.
