Raleigh, N.C., Jan. 14, 2026 — Tops Friendly Markets of Williamsville, N.Y., has recalled all codes of Christopher Ranch Peeled Garlic and Garland Fresh Peeled Garlic because the products have the potential to be contaminated with Clostridium botulinum, a bacterium that can cause life‑threatening botulism. Consumers are urged not to eat the products and to stop using them immediately, even if they look and smell normal, because consumption could result in severe illness or death.
The recalled items are Christopher Ranch Peeled Garlic, 6 oz., packed in plastic bags with UPC 74574-10852, and Garland Fresh Peeled Garlic, 6 oz., packed in plastic bags with UPCs 71894-00000 and 68826-75340; all product code dates/lot code(s) are included in the recall. The products have been sold online and at select U.S. retailers, including Tops Markets in New York, Pennsylvania and Vermont, and have been sold since Sept. 15, 2025.
Customers should return the item(s) to the place of purchase for a full refund or dispose of them safely; do not consume or attempt to salvage the product.
