Ghirardelli Chocolate Company Recalls Powdered Beverage Mixes Because of Possible Health Risk

Raleigh, N.C., Jan. 14, 2026 — Ghirardelli Chocolate Company of San Leandro, California, has recalled certain powdered beverage mixes because they may be contaminated with Salmonella, a pathogen that can cause serious illness. Consumers who own the affected products should stop using them immediately and not consume the mixes; vulnerable individuals such as young children, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems are at greater risk. No illnesses have been reported to date.

The recall covers specific product names and lot code(s) including: 30lb Chocolate Flavored Frappe (S195260A03, S195261A03, S291260A03, S295260A03, S596260A03, S191260A03, S291261A03); 30lb Classic White Frappe (S396260A03, S496260A03); 4/2lb Premium Hot Cocoa Pouch Bulk (S550250A04, S149250A04, S249250A04, S349250A04, S449250A04, S549250A04); multiple frappe and powdered varieties with lot code(s) listed above (for example S293260, S293261, S394260, S494260, S594260, S495260, S495261, S594262, S397261–S397263, S193260–S193261, S295260A03, S395260A03, S296260A03, S292260A03, S292261A03, S297261–S297262, S393262, S295261–S295262, S395260, S588260, S187260, S195260–S195261, S295260, S393260, S487260, S587260). The products were packaged in large formats intended for food-service and institutional customers and have been sold online and at select U.S. retailers since Sept. 15, 2025; some mixes may also have been available to consumers through e-commerce platforms.

Consumers who purchased any of the recalled powdered beverage mixes should dispose of the product or return it to the place of purchase and may request a refund or replacement.
