Harderwijk, The Netherlands, June 22, 2024 — Foppen Seafood has recalled its Smoked Norwegian Salmon Slices – Toast sized (8.1 oz) because routine testing has detected Listeria monocytogenes in the product, a bacterium that can cause serious illness. Consumers who have purchased the affected product should not eat it and should stop using it immediately; those who suspect they have symptoms consistent with listeriosis — including fever, muscle aches, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance or convulsions — should seek medical attention, especially pregnant people, infants, older adults and people with weakened immune systems.
The recall applies to Foppen Smoked Norwegian Salmon Slices – Toast sized, UPC 8 40137 10000 2, lot code(s) 412, with the lot code printed in the clear plastic window cutout on the front of the package. The product has been sold since June 22, 2024, online and at select U.S. retailers, including Kroger and Payless Supermarkets, in the following states: AL, AR, GA, IL, IN, KY, LA, MI, MO, MS, OH, SC, TN, TX and WV.
