Raleigh, N.C., June 26, 2026 — La Ceiba Foods Latin Market Inc. has recalled La Colonia and Selectos Latinos Requesón Salvadoreño (Salvadoran cottage cheese) and Requesón Mexicano (Mexican cottage cheese) because the products may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, a bacterium that can cause serious or fatal infections in young children, older adults, pregnant women and people with weakened immune systems. Consumers should not eat, sell, or serve these products and should stop using them immediately.

The recall covers the following products and lot code(s): La Colonia Salvadoreno Requeson (UPC 736846383099), 14 oz; Selectos Latinos Requeson Salvadoreno Ricotta Style (UPC 767787984526), 16 oz; Selectos Latinos Requeson Mexicano (UPC 767787984519), 16 oz; and Clover Hill bucket of Requeson, 18 lb. The recall was initiated after the supplier, Clover Hill Dairy, identified possible Listeria contamination at its facility and following an ongoing multi-state outbreak investigation.

Consumers should return recalled products to the place of purchase for a full refund or dispose of them safely; do not place recalled dairy in food donation channels.
