Raleigh, N.C., Jan. 14, 2026 — Cricket Creek Farm of Williamstown, Mass., has recalled Sophelise and Tobasi cheeses after testing has identified Listeria monocytogenes in a batch of Sophelise and linked Tobasi batches by proximity in storage; one hospitalization has been reported. Consumers are advised not to eat or distribute these products and should stop using them immediately to avoid potential serious illness, particularly for pregnant women, older adults, young children and people with weakened immune systems.
The recall covers Sophelise (product code 087055, washed pasteurized milk cheese, 4-inch rounds) and Tobasi (lot code(s) 315, 341, 048; washed raw-milk cheese, sold in small retail cuts or larger wholesale squares). These cheeses have been sold since March 26, 2023, online and at select U.S. retailers and farmers markets, including outlets in Massachusetts and New York such as Wild Oats (Williamstown, MA), Provisions Williamstown, McEnroe Organic Farm Market (Millerton, NY) and New Lebanon Farmers Market, as well as at restaurants and other regional markets.
Consumers who purchased Sophelise (product code 087055) or Tobasi (lot code(s) 315, 341, 048) on or after March 26 should dispose of the product or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund, and should not attempt to sell or redistribute it.
