Raleigh, N.C., Jan. 14, 2026 — Quesito El Establo of Salem, N.H., has recalled all its Queso Español (Quesito Colombiano) products after an FDA inspection found rodent activity and other unsanitary conditions at the facility, which raise the risk of contamination with Salmonella. Consumers are advised to stop using and not eat the affected products immediately to avoid potential serious illness, especially for infants, older adults, pregnant people and those with weakened immune systems.

The recall covers Queso Español (Quesito Colombiano) packaged in plastic and placed in Ziploc-style bags, about 1 pound per unit, with a blue label showing a cow and the wording “Quesito Colombiano” and “Spanish Cheese” and “Quesito El Establo” as the manufacturer; all products with lot code(s) AUG 22 2025 or earlier are included. The cheese has been sold online and at select U.S. retailers serving Hispanic/Latino communities, primarily in Massachusetts, and have been sold since Sept. 15, 2025.

Consumers who purchased the recalled cheese should not consume it and are urged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund or dispose of it following local guidance; those seeking a replacement or refund may contact Quesito El Establo at [email protected] or by phone at 617-842-0513 (Mon–Sat, 9 a.m.–5 p.m. ET). If you are unsure whether your product is affected, check the lot code on the label or consult the retailer or the FDA recall page for more information.
