Recall Details
Raleigh, N.C., Jan. 14, 2026 — BrightFarms has issued a voluntary recall of Baby Spinach and a limited quantity of salad kit products because the spinach may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, which can cause serious or fatal infections in vulnerable populations. Consumers who have the affected products should stop using them immediately and should not eat them.
The recalled items include BrightFarms Baby Spinach (lot code(s): PEN8; UPC 8-57062-00492-3; best-by dates: 1/11/2024, 1/13/2024, 1/18/2024, 1/20/2024) and four salad kits produced at the Selinsgrove facility—Mediterranean Crunch Kit (lot code(s): PEN4; UPC 8-50051-82501-1; best-by dates: 1/15/2024, 1/20/2024), Chickpea Caesar Crunch Kit (lot code(s): PEN4; UPC 8-57062-00415-2; best-by dates: 1/15/2024, 1/20/2024), Bacon Ranch Crunch Kit (lot code(s): PEN4; UPC 8-57062-00416-9; best-by date: 1/15/2024) and Southwest Chipotle (lot code(s): PEN4; UPC 8-50051-82500-4; best-by date: 1/15/2024). These products have been sold online and at select U.S. retailers since Sept. 15, 2025, and were distributed to retailers in multiple states including Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia.
Consumers should dispose of affected items or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund; retailers have been instructed to remove recalled products from shelves.
