Raleigh, N.C., Jan. 14, 2026 — Primavera Nueva Inc. has voluntarily recalled certain 4-count tamales because they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, a bacterium that can cause severe and sometimes fatal infections; pregnant women, young children, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems are at greatest risk. Consumers should stop using the affected products immediately and not eat them.
The recall covers multiple flavors of 4-count tamales with lot code(s) date codes 10/22 (2024) through 10/22 (2025), including Roasted Green Chile & Jack Cheese; Black Bean Bonanza & Jack Cheese; Butternut Squash with Roasted Green Chiles & Cheese; BBQ Chipotle Bean & White Cheddar; Mushroom Spinach & Salsa with Two Cheeses; Roasted Green Chile; Black Bean Bonanza; Butternut Squash with Roasted Green Chiles; and Mushroom Spinach & Salsa. The products have been sold online and at select U.S. retailers in California and Nevada and have been sold since Oct. 10, 2024; no other Primavera Nueva products are affected.

Primavera Nueva says it has enhanced cooking-temperature monitoring and verification since Oct. 11, 2025; consumers with questions should check the company or FDA recall notice for additional details.
