San Fernando, Calif., Feb. 9, 2024 — Fresh & Ready Foods has recalled four ready-to-eat torta sandwiches because they contain cotija cheese that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, a bacteria that can cause serious or fatal infections in vulnerable populations and pregnancy complications. Consumers are advised to stop eating the recalled sandwiches immediately and discard them or return them for a refund; do not consume if you suspect you have one of the affected products.
The recalled items and lot code(s) include: Fresh & Ready Ham Torta Sandwich (9 oz), lot codes with use‑by dates 02/03/2024 to 02/22/2024 (UPC 8290690707); Fresh & Ready Chicken Torta Sandwich (9 oz), lot codes with use‑by dates 02/03/2024 to 02/22/2024 (UPC 8290690706); Sprig & Sprout Ham Torta Sandwich on Telera Roll (9 oz), lot codes with use‑by dates 01/27/2024 to 02/15/2024 (UPC 8290690720); and Jack & Olive Ham Torta Sandwich on Telera Roll (9 oz), lot codes with use‑by dates 01/27/2024 to 02/15/2024 (UPC 8290690725). The sandwiches have been sold since Jan. 21, 2024 online and at select U.S. retailers in Arizona, California, Nevada and Utah.
Consumers should dispose of the products or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund and may request replacement where applicable.
