Sioux City, Iowa, Jan. 14, 2026 — Palmer Candy Company has recalled a range of white‑coated confectionary items because they may be contaminated with Salmonella, a bacterium that can cause fever, diarrhea, nausea and, in vulnerable people, severe or life‑threatening infections. Consumers are advised to stop using the listed products immediately and not eat them; those who have the items in their homes should isolate them from other foods and children and seek medical attention if they develop symptoms consistent with salmonellosis.

The affected products include multiple retail formats (bags, pouches and tubs) of white‑coated pretzels, snack mixes and cookies with the following lot code(s) and best‑by dates: Caramel Swirl Pretzels 4oz (12/28/2024); Caramel Swirl Pretzels 6oz (12/19/24, 12/20/24, 1/19/25); Classic Yogurt Pretzels 28# (12/11/24–1/8/25); Cookies & Cream Yummy Chow 14# (12/6/24–1/8/25); Enrobed Pretzel Rods 8oz (1/22/25); Favorite Day Bakery White Fudge Mini Cookies 7oz (4/4/25, 4/5/25, 4/15/25, 4/18/25); Frosted Munchy Medley Bowl 15oz (1/3/25); Frosted Patriot Frosted Pretzels 28# (1/2/25, 1/3/25); Frosted Pretzels 6oz (1/23/25); Munchy Medley various sizes and dates (see retailer notice); Patriotic and Peanut Butter branded mixes and other yogurt‑coated pretzels and cookies with best‑by dates ranging from 11/13/24 through 4/23/25. These products have been sold online and at select U.S. retailers including Walmart, Hy‑Vee, Target and Dollar General, and distributed to retailers and wholesalers in multiple states since the indicated dates.

Production is suspended while Palmer Candy and the FDA continue their investigation; no illnesses have been reported to date. Consumers should return affected items to the place of purchase for a full refund or dispose of them according to local waste guidance, and may request a refund or replacement.
