  • Company: Wiers Farm, Inc.
  • Product: whole cucumbers and bagged salad
  • Status: active
  • Type: Cucumber
  • Date: Jul 16, 2024
  • Reason: Potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes

Raleigh, N.C., Jan. 14, 2026 — Wiers Farm Inc. of Willard, Ohio, has voluntarily recalled whole cucumbers and bagged salad cucumbers because they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, a bacterium that can cause serious illness; consumers should not eat the products and should stop using them immediately. The recall is being conducted out of an abundance of caution after routine sampling by the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development indicated potential contamination. No illnesses or consumer complaints have been reported to date.

Recalled items include whole cucumbers (pack date June 5, 2024) and Wiers Farm 2 lb bagged salad cucumbers (pack dates June 5, 2024 and June 6, 2024); lot code(s) correspond to those pack dates. The cucumbers were sourced from out of state, handled and distributed by Wiers Farm, and have been sold online and at select U.S. retailers, including select Walmart stores in Michigan, Indiana and Ohio, and have been sold since June 5, 2024. Packaging for the bagged cucumbers is a clear bag with a blue base; whole cucumbers measure roughly 1.5–2.5 inches in diameter and 6–9 inches in length.

Consumers who have the recalled product should discard it or return it to the place of purchase for a refund or replacement; do not consume the product. Those who have eaten the product and develop symptoms such as fever, muscle aches or gastrointestinal issues should seek medical attention. For questions or to request a refund or replacement, contact Wiers Farm at (419) 933-2161 or email [email protected]. Consumers seeking more information on listeriosis can consult the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website.
