5. Mint

There is a reason why mint is the preferred ice cream flavor of choice during the hot summer months. Menthol, a mint-inducing compound, can trick your brain into thinking that the food is cold and subsequently cools down your body temperature. On top of this, there are claims that inhaling the aroma of essential oils of mint could improve brain function, which is also critical for preventing heat stroke.
