5. The 1st Step - Heat
Simply heat a tablespoon of sugar in a ladle over a high flame until it melts and begins to caramelize. Be sure to keep the heat low, and stir regularly to avoid burning the mixture. When the syrup turns brown, prepare to leave the fire.
